The NY Times’ Eric Asimov described a previous vintage of this wine as the “Best American Riesling I’ve ever tasted.” An expressive and vibrant wine from the old vines and sloping limestone soils of the famous Argetsinger Vineyard on the southeastern edge of Seneca Lake. This is a new release for 2021!
A powerful and rich, dry Riesling, with waves of seductive minerality and depth of flavor. You'll find the typical high acidity and leaner fruit profile of this vineyard site shining through, as well a complexity and agability that can only be compared to Germany's Grosses Gewächs.
95 Points, Decanter Magazine
“According to Morten Hallgren, 2017 was neither as warm as '16 nor as cool as '18, and the combination of the moderate climate and the thin limestone soils of the Argetsinger vineyard have delivered a wine that is ripe but still very fresh, with aromas that span lemon peel, apricot, chamomile and mineral on the very expressive nose, and a texture that is lively but shows a pleasantly plump feel despite the fact that it is perfectly dry. Lovely quality – should age for another decade or more.” – CC, 1/31/22
