Jean-Marc Millot Cote de Nuits Villages Version Nord 2022
The 2022 wines from Millot are very cheerful. They are pinot noirs to be enjoyed in good company and large gulps, not wines about which to be analytical and intellectual. They are 2022 at its best, and please: no need to be overthink the juice. In fact, a relaxed feeling is needed to enjoy these babies optimally.
I know that 2022 perhaps is lacking a bit in outright intensity and detail. But that said, they ensure you can lean back and enjoy the ride; these are my kind of wines.
The Côte de Nuits Village is from very old vines that give it good balance and ripeness. It’s ripe, vivid, and with quite a delicate feel. While not super precise, it doesn’t need to be, as it completes an impressionistic pinot painting with broad strokes. Let me repeat this: I like the wines from the Comblanchien/Corgoloin area, especially in years like 2022.
